HERMITAGE FM IS AWARDED THE COMMUNITY RADIO LICENCE TO BROADCAST LOCAL RADIO TO COALVILLE, ASHBY-DE-LA-ZOUCH and IBSTOCK
COALVILLE, Thursday 24 July 2008 : It has been announced today that Carillon Radio, the organisation which since 1972 has broadcast programmes to Loughborough, Coalville, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Oakham and Melton Mowbray hospitals, has been awarded the community local radio licence for Coalville, Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Ibstock. The station plans to build new studios in the Margaret Street Church Centre in Coalville, the restored Palace Cinema in Ibstock and in the Hub Young People’s Centre in Ashby-de-la-Zouch. The new station will be known as Hermitage FM.
We intend to develop the use of radio to engage, inform, entertain and unite the community of Coalville, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Ibstock and the surrounding district.
Over the last eight years we have worked with numerous local charities and community groups with forty-one weekend community events in 2007 alone. Our community website includes our event calendar for this year.
By enabling open access to radio through training and working alongside community groups we intend that all listeners to Hermitage FM will have a sense of ownership of the station and that they have ease of access and a right to contribute by locating studios in Coalville, Ibstock and Ashby-de-la-Zouch. |
